WHO WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO

100% Montana-grown and 100% American-made, Duckworth is proud to be the world's only source-verified, single-origin Merino Wool clothing company.

Our dedicated team carefully manages every step of the process, from raw fiber to finished garment: Knowing Merino Wool is our business.

Starting at our ranch in Dillon, Montana, our open-range Montana Merino sheep live between 5,000’ and 9,500’ in elevation and endure temps ranging from -40 to over 90 degrees Fahrenheit, grazing on natural grasses and Montana wildflowers found on remote mountainsides. The unpredictable and rugged conditions of the Northern Rockies result in a rare Merino Wool: an incredibly soft, yet durable, fiber with exceptional loft and breathability thanks to an unparalleled degree of "crimp" within the fleece.

Using best-in-the-world-quality Merino Wool - produced by our co founders, The Helle Family, fourth-generation sheep ranchers from Dillon, Montana - our apparel is designed for superior performance with stewardship, sustainability and 100% American-made craftsmanship at front of mind.

A lightweight (150 GSM) and proprietary blend of fine (18-micron) Montana-grown Merino Wool, cellulose (modal, a recycled bamboo fiber), and recycled Polyester, Vapor Wool produces an ultra-fast-wicking, antimicrobial (odor-free), quick-drying and naturally cooling single jersey fabric line. The cooling sensation is due to conductive "revaporation," which kicks in during any form of physical exertion. Think high-intensity or high-temp days.

Named after a jagged, rock-covered mountain in Montana's Beaverhead Range, Comet is for those heavyweight (270 GSM) baselayer or brisk morning solo-layer needs. Ultra-durable Comet boasts a natural-technical mash-up, combining a pure, 100% Montana-grown Merino Wool outer layer and a recycled polyester inner layer. Why the combo? Polyester is hydrophobic, meaning it will wick sweat and moisture right off your skin and into the hydrophilic wool layer. It gets better: wool chemically begins to get even warmer when introduced to water and water vapor, adding a whole new degree of heat and warmth-generating reliability to Comet's high-tech performance.

Everyone needs a pair of our Montana-grown Merino Wool socks. Why? Lightweight, naturally antimicrobial (odor-free), itch-free, cooling (yet heat-trapping, when you need it), moisture-wicking, quick-drying Merino Wool does the legwork, and the top-of-foot venting and ample cushioning do the rest. Extremely cold winters? Hot summers? No match for Merino, and the natural crimp of our unique wool lends these incredible socks a springy bounce you won't find elsewhere.
