Duckworth's Vapor Tunnel Hood is the perfect lightweight, 4-season Merino layer.

Our Vapor Tunnel Hood begins with natural, American-grown Merino Wool that's then spun and knit into our proprietary Vapor Wool fabric blend. Vapor Wool combines three different fibers to create a garment that is lightweight, soft, cooling, antimicrobial (odor-free), moisture-wicking and ultra-fast-drying.

It's perfect as a baselayer during high-exertion winter activities or as a sun hoody that keeps sun off the skin (UPF-50) and the body cool when worn solo in the heat.

Featuring a loose-fit hood, a slightly higher neckline, and thumb holes, this versatile Merino Wool hoody was born in the Montana backcountry and has been performance tested in environments from Arizona to Alaska.

From Rainy Scotland to Dry Utah

"Montana born and raised girl here- when I saw a Montana based wool company I knew I had to have a piece of home with me on a recent trip abroad. This hoody was my constant companion on a 100-mile walk across Scotland in the rainiest conditions, and now finds itself backpacking through the deserts of Utah where I now live. My only complaints about the hoody- there is a mild amount of pilling where my backpack sits, which is to be expected with wool products, and my thumb-hole ripped out on one of the sleeves, which will be an easy fix once I find the time to sit down and sew it back together. I also did size up to accommodate a looser fit. Other than that, I can't say enough good things about this hoody. Thanks for making a product that kept me warm and safe in wet conditions, dry and cool in warm conditions, and looking nice and not smelly throughout all the Scottish pubs!"

Multi-season layer

"The weight of the vapor this time of year (early fall) is fantastic, perfect for the changing seasons as it’s versatile enough to be comfortable in both warm and cool temps. I was wearing this yesterday and it was equally comfortable working out in the sun as it was doing chores in the cooler evening temps. I’m also loving the latest color scheme Duckworth is offering! I’d say the fit is fairly athletic with vapor and I like it roomier, so always order a size up."

"Glad I ordered the XL si I can wear something underneath. I ordered a medium vapor tank which fits great and an Xl vapor tunnel hoodie which fits loosely. I don’t like tight things around my neck! Love them both and am already using them nearly daily on ranch chores"

Absolutely love but fit a bit more ‘fitted’

"I love Duckworth and I love the vapor tunnel hoody. The quality and workmanship is top-notch and the only reason I did not give five stars is I found the sizing to be smaller than the size chart reflects. I am 5’7” 125# 34-26-36 and typically order small. My measurements actually indicated XS but I went with small, and found it to be barely big enough for me, in fact the sleeves are not long enough for me to use the thumb holes. I can only wear a short sleeve T or tank underneath which is fine as I got it for warmer weather. It was a bit more fitted than I expected so if you want a looser fit I would consider sizing up. I may order another and try a medium. I still love the hoody and have already worn several times. I would definitely recommend just be aware of sizing."

Ideal for travel

"I already had a set of the vapor tee shirt and funnel neck hoodie in maroon red and found it really great for travel since it can be worn both together or separately and is cool or warm depending on the need. They also pack very light and can be reworn frequently. I bought this as my second set in a different color. I have the vapor tee in green but you don't have the hoodie in that color and I would like to get one if or when it becomes available so I have a third set."

How much does a womens size L weigh in g/oz.?
A size large is around 6oz
Does this work as a sun hoodie as well? I tend to run warm, and I'm concerned that this would be too much for me to wear while hiking in the Sierras just to protect me from the sun. Thanks!
Definitely an amazing sun hoody! This material is actually naturally cooling in warm/hot environments! It is a great summer hiking/backpacking/fishing layer
When will you be restocking the other colors for this item? Interested in the red size small
Unfortunately, we aren't scheduled to get any more of this product until next year.
What is the SPF rating?
Our UPF ratings range from about 15 to 30. The darker the color, the closer to that 30 mark! Hope that helps!
