"This is a very soft and comfortable rib knit merino wool hat. The gold color is beautiful and vibrant. It felt a bit tight on at first but it stretched to my head and now fits snug. I prefer to wear it uncuffed as it covers my ears better. This keeps my head warm down to about 35 F (I am sensitive to cold) including while bicycling with the added wind chill."

Better than my old watch hat

"I have an old watch cap, I bought at an Army/Navy store, sometime back in the 80's. It was time to replace it and I chose the Duckworth watch hat. It is actually warmer than my old faithful. The weave seems tighter and it stretches well, which is important to me since I wear hearing aids and tight hats that go over my ears don't work well. I took it on a back country trip recently and got it kind of dirty, so I washed by hand and laid flat to dry. Came out great. Would by another one if the need arose."

Best Fit Without Being Tight

"My experience with three different Duckworth wool hats is that this Watchman hat is the most stretchy and fits the best. The Homespun hat and Rigger hat both fit tighter on my head and are less comfortable. Highly recommend this Watchman hat. It's comfortable, warm, and looks good."

Q&A

Is this a double or single layer hat?
Double layer!
Is the auburn color similar to blaze orange? There is a photo that looks like a woman wearing blaze orange.
It is not blaze orange, the auburn is more of an orangish-red color.
Will this call vet my ears on duper cold days and nights?
These 100% wool knit hats do amazing at keeping your head and ears nice and warm!
My hat size is 7 5/8. Is this hat big enough for my bald dome?
Yes it should! All of the knit hats are one size and we do make them tight to begin with because they will naturally stretch and form to your head over time. Since these hats are 100% wool and don't have any stretchy additive like spandex, we make them slightly tighter to begin with. P.S. I have a big bald dome too, similar size, and mine fit like a dream after a wear.
Hey guys! Super excited that I found this excellent brand of clothes. I test gear out and had a suggestion, I used to loom my own wool hats, (still got the looms) and I figured out how to make a brimmed hat a while ago. Gave a lot away or sold some to people that wanted to pay $30 for a hat I made. (I know I was 22 then, it was super cheap for my time which was 3hrs for 1 brimmed hat, 30 minutes for a basic 1 color hat) Could we get this in a brimmed hat? Keep the rain off of us while sitting in a tree stand and keep the sun out of my eyes while I’m at my local crag in the fall? Love the boxers so far. On day 2 of and barely a funky smell and it’s 108 yesterday after long day in sun and today I climbed all morning. Pretty amazing! Gonna wash them now. 100% works better than smart wool, and first lite boxer briefs. Still love my first lite boxers but I’m making the switch now.
