If you're looking for a baselayer to stand up to the coldest winter days Mother Nature throws your way - and we've had customers wear Comet on expeditions in Antarctica and Alaska - then you've come to the right place. Duckworth's proprietary Comet fabric is natural-technical mash-up, combining a Montana-grown Merino Wool outer layer and a recycled polyester inner layer. Why the combo? Polyester is hydrophobic, meaning it will wick sweat and moisture right off your skin and into the hydrophilic wool layer; wool atomically becomes even warmer when introduced to water and water vapor, thus explaining why the slim-fitted Comet Leggings will have your legs feeling dry and toasty even in the nastiest conditions. Soft to the touch, durable, anti-odor, moisture-wicking, quick-drying, and versatile: your one-stop-shop baselayer legging.

Why Duckworth Comet Fabric?

Composition: 94% Montana Merino Wool and 6% nylon outer layer, 100% recycled polyester inner layer

Weight: 315 gsm

Duckworth Merino Wool Men's Sizes

NEW SIZING, FIT & FABRIC INFORMATION: You spoke and we listened - following ample customer feedback, we've increased the inseams on these top-performing Merino Wool long johns. Additionally, we've slightly increased the grade of our X-Large and XX-Large fits for a better match to our size chart. You will notice more room in these fits compared to previous years' models. We've slightly adjusted the outer-layer material to include 6% nylon for the purpose of adding extra strength to the wool yarn, following feedback from our ranching team the outer layer would occasionally develop holes after rigorous use. The fabric also features a 315 GSM construction vs 275 GSM in year's past, for optimal warmth and weight in the colds of the American backcountry.

Cold gentle machine wash with like colors. Do not bleach. Dry flat or line dry only; do not tumble dry.

COMET - durable bi-ply Merino Wool insulating layer

Comet is what we call a Merino Wool bi-ply layer due to the literal welding of two separate fabrics into one to create an unmatched Merino Wool insulation technology, trapping warm air against the body while also wicking sweat off the skin like no other Merino Wool layer can. Durable and versatile, a must have for any adventurers facing the cold.

Excellent Fall/Winter Legging

"Excellent technical product. Regularly use these for skiing and extended backcountry elk hunting. Provides great warmth and breathability. Great balance for long hikes/ski runs of high activity and stationary glassing. Have worn these multiple days in a row and have never had issues with odor or moisture retention. Would highly recommend for use in cold weather activities."

John Doe Kansan Approved

"This blows the cheap Walmart leggings out of this planet. Super comfortable, warm, seem pretty durable (only worn for about a month) and as an American beef producer, I love supporting other American raised animals and production. I use them for work (ranch duties), lounging, and hunting, and am never disappointed in quality or comfort"

Great Base Layer for Camping

"We spend a lot of time in the woods and on trails. Over the years I have found that wearing leggings helps with my circulation and reduces the swelling in my feet at the end of each 5-20 Mile trek we might be on. When you’re hiking you can’t beat the Maverick leggings, they breathe with you, they don’t chafe or bunch, and they help my legs and feet not swell as much, maybe it’s just me though, my wife doesn’t have the same issues of her feet swelling like I do. But when we camp, we have a double sleeping bag, and it’s difficult to have baggy clothes and be comfortable. We both started wearing the comet leggings while camping and I sleep in a snorkel hoodie and she a comet hoodie, but I’ve started sleeping in my leggings every night at home and just feel better in the mornings. I don’t know how they make them but if you wear regular thermal long Johns and you sweat to death, or they bunch and twist and ride up but I have yet to have a pair of maverick or comet leggings do that, they really are a great product. If you have a need, these are the ones to get. Don’t buy cheaper because you’ll replace in due time. Support the brand, you won’t find better than Duckworth American Made Products!"

Great Product, warm

"Folks who think it doesn’t get cold down south would be wrong. Maybe not 38 below zero but the humidity here makes freezing get to you very quickly if you’re not moving, as in a deer stand. The Comet leggings under a good pair of trousers makes all the difference. Can’t beat wool."

ALL WINTER BASE LAYER

"This is an excellent base layer for winter. I live in Eastern Washington and wear the Comet line exclusively during winter. It's true when they say you don't need to launder after each wearing. Hang them up at night and let them air out. I have several pairs of shirts and pants and rotate them daily. When they do need washing, it is as simple as using a lanolin based, no rinse cleaner (Eucalan) in a five-gallon bucket. Gently swish garments in liquid, then squeeze (don't twist) out the liquid, roll in a cotton towel and squeeze. Unroll, then hang to dry."

Q&A

Where is this product made? If fabric weaving, sewing, etc. occur in different places, please specify what happens where. Thanks.
Wool comes from Montana, wool is cleaned/combed in the Carolinas, fabric is knit in New Jersey, and the product was cut/sewn in Louisiana
What is the inseam length on a men's comet legging size medium? I'm 6'1" 180. Size recommendation please.
The inseam length is 28 inches! I would say a medium would work or possibly a large.
hello was wondering my size I am 6'1" 185 lbs also are they available to ship now?
I would suggest size large, possibly XL. They are available on our website now!
What is the inseam length on the Medium?
28 inches!
Will you have more of these in stock? If so, do you have an eta?
With supply chain issues, this is looking to be around June sadly :(
