If you're looking for a Merino Wool baselayer to stand up to the coldest winter days, then you've come to the right place. Duckworth's proprietary Comet fabric is natural-technical mash-up, combining a fortified Montana-grown Merino Wool outer layer and a polyester inner layer. Why this combination? Polyester wicks sweat and moisture off your skin into the wool layer. Merino Wool gets warmer when wet, so the Men's Quarter Zip will have you feeling dry and toasty even in the nastiest conditions. Duckworth customers have even worn Comet on expeditions in Antarctica and Alaska. The fabric is soft to the touch, and thanks to a heat venting zip it looks sharp as a single layer at après ski in the lodge or in the truck between treks. Durable, anti-odor, moisture-wicking, quick-drying, and versatile, the Men's Comet Crew is your one-stop-shop Merino Wool baselayer. American-made with Montana wool, this men's baselayer is available in multiple colors.

Why Duckworth Comet Fabric?

COMET - durable bi-ply Merino Wool insulating layer

Comet is what we call a Merino Wool bi-ply layer due to the literal welding of two separate fabrics into one to create an unmatched Merino Wool insulation technology, trapping warm air against the body while also wicking sweat off the skin like no other Merino Wool layer can. Durable and versatile, a must have for any adventurers facing the cold.

Great shirt

"I just love the comet material, so i thought i'd try the Comet quarter zip. Very well made and i was not disappointed at all. I only wish they made their products in XXXL sizes."

"Love the product it keeps you comfortable and warm when needed"

"Size medium fits my tall slim frame perfectly. 6’2” and 170-175 lbs. Great for a base layer but I primarily wear over a polo or dress shirt in the office. These actually look pretty sharp and regulate temp well. Duckworth, if you’re reading this consider stepping up your packaging game. You could take notes from Wool & Prince and Unbound Merino. Kind of disappointing at this price point to get a plastic bag mailer with a wrinkled shirt just stuffed in a clear plastic bag."

Comet quarter zip

"I got this in gray but really need one in blue. Hopefully soon you will have blue back in stock. I really like the thickness of this top. As in everything else I’ve gotten from Duckworth, this is top quality and I’m highly satisfied!"

Stan W. (5/5)

Buy it. . . . worth the money.

"Great quality. Perfect close layer for cold weather activities. Fit is athletic, allowing a base layer should you want to utilize this as a mid layer. Fabulous fit and feel. sleeves and body are a tad bit longer on the XL, but not anything to worry with. The longer body length helps keep it tucked in."

Spectacular Cold-Weather Base Layer with One Flaw

"First, I think the Duckworth Comet base layers are the best cold-weather base layers in the world, and they are worn absolutely every day during our Minnesota winters. I had been hoping for a Comet quarter-zip for years, and ordered immediately. I LOVE the design, but I would recommend waiting for version 2 because of one significant flaw. If you look at any other quarter-zips you own, the top of the zipper has a little flap over it so that the edges at the top of the zipper do not constantly poke you in the neck. The Comet quarter-zip lacks this, and it makes it almost unwearable. I took mine to a seamstress and had her add one for me; that fixed it, but this design over-sight should be corrected."

Quality Product

"I’m 6’0”, 180 Lbs. A superior piece that is a bit tight in the chest area however, my chest and upper body parts are more muscular vs. another person of the same height and weight. This is an incredibly warm top that is perfect for cold climates in northern USA states."

James J. (5/5)

Great baselayer

"Great baselayer for cooler or colder weather. I have the comet 1/4 zip and the comet shirt. Large is a bit long in the hemline and sleeves, I'm 5' 9" 180 lbs. Medium might be a better fit, though I typically wear large with other brands."
